We are excited to announce our inaugural season of the Challenger Division which is described as "Little League's adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges".

There is no registration fee and it is open to ANY individual age 4-30.  *If there is interest, we will do our best to accommodate players older than the cutoff as well.  There are no residency or school requirements to participate.

You will need to create an account on our website to sign up: https://www.eastchathambaseball.com/

There are no practices, only games, and players will receive jerseys and hats.  We will try to host 1 game per week throughout the majority of our season including Opening Day. There will be 1 pool of players that we will divide up to play the games. *Games will be Wednesdays 5:30 PM @ EC Field (in front of and across the street from Pittsboro Elementary) and will last about 1 hour.  We planned to have most Wednesdays available throughout the bulk of our season and can adjust the frequency of games as needed.

We will also utilize "Base Buddies" which will be a team of older LL players who will shadow participants batting, running bases and playing the field.  We have a few volunteers so far who will help run the program, but we can always use more including a head coach if anyone is interested.

Safe equipment will be used, and the rules will resemble our T-ball division. Players can attempt to hit pitches and then use a tee if needed.  Everyone plays the field, and everyone bats each inning. Runners stay on base even if they get out.  No helmets are needed, and parents are allowed to be on the field if they want.

In the registration there are questions asking about specific medical conditions, and specific assistance needed with each facet of the game. Please provide as many details as possible to ensure we provide the best help we can.  For example, my child: can run to the base themselves, needs someone guiding them to the base, needs someone running next to them, needs someone to hold their hand, needs someone to push their wheelchair etc.

Please email: [email protected] with any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Our goal is to provide a fun and rewarding experience for these players and families. And with your help, we have no doubt that we can make that happen!
